Description
The Nagao Higonokami is the definitive Japanese friction folder, forged from Aogami Blue Paper Steel that takes a hair-splitting edge and develops a rich patina over time. The one-piece brass handle doubles as a lever for opening and adds natural heft. Made in Miki City by the last remaining licensed Higonokami maker.

The Everyday Ritual
Thumb the lever, feel the blade click into position, and slice through packing tape, an apple, or a length of twine with effortless precision. The brass warms in your pocket throughout the day.
Compact enough to forget you're carrying it—until you need it.
Last of the Licensed Makers
Nagao Seisakusho is the sole holder of the Higonokami trademark, forging each blade in Miki City, Japan's historic cutlery capital, using techniques unchanged for over a century.
Aogami Blue Paper Steel is hardened to 62 HRC, delivering an edge that rewards careful stropping with months of reliable keenness.

Looking After Your Blade
Keep your blade in top nick. Give it a rinse and dry after each use to stop corrosion. Every now and then, rub a thin coat of mineral oil along the blade. Sharpen with a whetstone or honing rod at a steady angle. Store it in a sheath, knife roll, or on a magnetic strip — never chucked loose in a drawer. For carbon and Damascus steel, give it a wipe after cutting acidic foods. For folding knives, clean out the pivot and pop a drop of lubricant in to keep it opening smoothly.
