Description
The Hanwei Practical battle ready katana features a differentially hardened T10 tool steel blade with excellent edge retention and a prominent hamon line. The 72cm blade is ground to a keen edge suitable for tatami omote cutting. Full-tang construction with a cotton ito wrapped tsuka over genuine ray skin ensures durability during intensive dojo sessions.

Precision at Full Speed
The T10 blade cuts through rolled tatami with zero resistance — the sound of a clean strike resonates through the dojo as the edge passes through without deflection. In your hands, the balanced weight between blade and tsuka creates fluid transitions from jodan to chudan, each kata flowing into the next with purpose.
Tool Steel Excellence
T10 tool steel is selected for its superior carbon content and edge-holding capability, then differentially hardened to create a hard cutting edge backed by a resilient spine. Each blade is hand-ground on traditional water stones, and the iron tsuba is cast in classical motifs that pay homage to the Muromachi period swordsmiths.

Looking After Your Blade
Keep your blade in top nick. Give it a rinse and dry after each use to stop corrosion. Every now and then, rub a thin coat of mineral oil along the blade. Sharpen with a whetstone or honing rod at a steady angle. Store it in a sheath, knife roll, or on a magnetic strip — never chucked loose in a drawer. For carbon and Damascus steel, give it a wipe after cutting acidic foods. For folding knives, clean out the pivot and pop a drop of lubricant in to keep it opening smoothly.
