Description
The Robert Herder K1 is an artisan kitchen knife from one of Solingen's oldest family-owned manufacturers. The 16cm 1.4034 carbon-enriched steel blade is laser-thin and feather-light, taking an incredibly keen edge that rewards hand sharpening. The hand-turned cherry wood handle is naturally antibacterial and develops a beautiful patina.

**The Purist's Choice**
Featherweight in the hand, the K1 glides through ripe tomatoes without pressure. The thin carbon steel blade reacts to your lightest touch, making prep work meditative. Over time, the cherry handle darkens to match the patina of your kitchen memories.

**Five Generations of Solingen Steel**
Robert Herder has forged blades in Solingen since 1872 — a family tradition spanning five generations. The K1's wafer-thin blade is ground to just 1.5mm at the spine, a feat only possible through techniques perfected over 150 years of continuous knifemaking.

Knife Care & Maintenance
Keep your blade performing at its best. Rinse and dry after each use to prevent corrosion. Apply a thin coat of mineral oil to the blade periodically. Sharpen with a whetstone or honing rod at a consistent angle. Store in a sheath, knife roll, or magnetic strip — never loose in a drawer. For carbon and Damascus steel, wipe after contact with acidic foods. For folding knives, clean the pivot area and apply a drop of lubricant to ensure smooth deployment.
